Dark Sky Protected Area
At Beachmere Escape we understand the importance of dark skies for wildlife conservation and cultural connection. We provide a home to a variety of nocturnal wildlife, including owls, possums, bandicoots, antechinus, snakes and gliders. To minimise the impact of artificial light on wildlife we follow the Best Practice Lighting Design Principles from the National Light Pollution Guidelines for Wildlife.
We encourage guests to use as much light as needed, only where needed, only when needed.

Book your stay at Beachmere Escape and set your camera or tripod on the isolated patch of sand/mud which is hidden between the rainforest and the mangroves. You cannot see an artificial light! …except maybe a satellite or aircraft.
